A. This amazing raptor was just captured by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service at the Air Force's McChord Field (the runway is behind me). They'll soon release it far away for the safety of both hawk and aircraft, but they let me hold it first!
With his wife and their three children, Bryan lives in Wake County, North Carolina where he spent eight years on the Apex Town Council, including two years as Mayor pro tem. Bryan later served as Deputy Secretary of the NC Dept. of Commerce, and as a senior leader for our state's natural resource programs.
Bryan subsequently worked in the judicial branch before taking a position in the U.S. Department of Defense as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army, a 3-Star-equivalent Civilian position inside the Pentagon.
Joining much later than most, Bryan raised his right hand and commissioned into the U.S. Army National Guard in his late 30s! In 2020 he transferred into the U.S. Army Reserve.
As a Captain, Bryan deployed to the Middle East in 2021-22, primarily to Qatar and Jordan. During his tour, Bryan joined convoy operations into Syria, and was decorated for his actions aiding the Afghanistan Noncombatant Evacuation Operation (NEO).
